ESCAPE Ipoh will be the latest tourism icon of Perak.

BATU GAJAH, 24 February 2024 - ESCAPE Ipoh, the latest tourism icon of Perak, is set to fully open in April this year and will be the main attraction of Visit Perak Year 2024.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said this after officiating the Opening Ceremony of ESCAPE Ipoh in Tanjung Tualang this morning.

He said ESCAPE Ipoh, a redevelopment on a brownfield site, is expected to increase the value of real estate and labour expertise as well as increase the variety of tourism products.

"I was informed that the opening of ESCAPE Ipoh in April 2024 is expected to attract 200,000 tourists a year. This will indirectly boost the economy and be a catalyst for the tourism industry growth in Perak, especially around the Batu Gajah area.

"Of course, the emergence of ESCAPE Ipoh will also provide economic spillover to the surrounding residents, besides creating job opportunities and small businesses.

"So far, Tanjung Tualang has been famous for its lobster dishes and extreme sports activities. With its location close to Kellie's Castle, Silverlakes Village Outlet, LAT Gallery, Gua Tempurung, Taman Alam Kinta, PATRO, and The Treasure @Taman Herba Gopeng, ESCAPE Ipoh can be considered as a complement to the plan to make Greater Ipoh (Batu Gajah-Ipoh-Kuala Kangsar) as a preferred tourist destination," he added.

Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Tourism, Industry, Investment and State Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, State Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi Helmi, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc.) CEO Anuar Zainal Abidin, Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) CEO Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak, Sim Leisure Group founder Dato' Sim Choo Kheng and Sim Leisure Group CEO Philip Whittaker.
