State Government Fetes Perak Media.

IPOH, 24 February 2024 - A total of 21 media personnel received awards in various categories at the Media Dinner Reception with the Menteri Besar at the Perak State Secretariat Banquet Hall tonight, which was attended by 70 media practitioners.
The awards were presented by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad who was present with his wife, Datin Seri Aezer Zubin.
A total of six categories were contested, namely Best News Award, Best Article Award, Best Economic News Award, Best Sports News Award, Best Audio Visual Award and Best Photo Award.
The first place winner received cash of RM1,500, the second place RM1,000 and the third place RM500. All the winners also received a certificate of appreciation.
Dato' Seri Saarani also presented 3 special awards to retired media members in appreciation of their contributions as media practitioners for decades in Perak, namely former Utusan Malaysia photographer Zulkarnain Mohd Saidin, Lam Koon Yeu (TV3 cameraman) and Chandra Sagaran a/l Pookan (The Sun reporter).
He said the Perak Media Awards ceremony was very significant and special as for the first time the state government gave recognition to the hard work and dedication of journalists, photographers and all those involved in the Perak media industry in delivering quality news and information to the community.
"I was informed by the organisers that the response received from the Perak media practitioners was very encouraging with more than 90 entries received for the six categories from various news agencies.
"To the winners, I congratulate you on your success. Make it an inspiration and a clear proof of excellence and recognition we have received in the field of journalism and media.
"To those unsuccessful, remember that every effort you make is important and valuable. Don't stop to continue producing informative work and news and at the same time be able to educate the people," he said.
Meanwhile, Perak Media Practitioners Association (PPMP) chairman Sayed Mohd Hesham Syed Idris said the organisation of the media awards means a lot to all the media personnel.
"Not just feting the media, but also recognising the cooperation and contribution of the Perak media practitioners who have helped a lot in spreading coverage and publicity about the state government," he said.
Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi Helmi, State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Dato' Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc.) CEO Anuar Zainal Abidin and Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) CEO Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak.
