IPOH, 28 FEBRUARY 2024 - HRH Raja Permaisuri Of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim launched the National Level ‘Leaving No One Behind’ HPV vaccination programme organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) at Dewan Serbaguna Bandar Baru Tambun here.

The programme saw approximately 500 women and adolescent girls aged 13 to 20 in the Tambun Parliamentary Constituency receiving free HPV vaccine injections.

The programme, being carried out nationwide with the close collaboration of NCSM and Members of Parliament, government agencies and local non-governmental organiations (NGOs), aims to identify underprivileged and disabled women and adolescent girls who are still not HPV vaccinated in every parliamentary constituency.

The Prime Minister’s wife Dato' Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Ismail in her speech said the close cooperation between the government, NGOs and the private sector has proven that civil society in Malaysia is still intact and stable.

"Efforts such as this need to be successful through early awareness, including by ensuring that no one is left behind in taking the HPV vaccine at the early stage.

"Furthermore, through this free HPV vaccination programme, the gap in cancer care in the country can also be narrowed, especially among the underprivileged and at risk," she said in her speech.

At the event, HRH Raja Permaisuri of Tuanku Zara Salim also presented appreciation awards to sponsors and NGOs that have contributed to the success of the ‘Leave No One Behind’ HPV vaccination programme.

One of the award recipients was the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM), consisting of 16 member companies and collectively contributed RM3 million to the vaccination programme.
