CEPA Conservation And Operations Programme Of Perak Mangrove Forests With The State Secretary.

KERIAN, 18 April 2024 - A total of 200 people participated in the Communication, Education, Participation & Awareness (CEPA) Programme for the Conservation and Operations of Perak Mangrove Forests with the State Secretary, Civil Servants and Mangrove Forest Entrepreneurs at the Government Land of Pulau Gula.

The participants comprised Kelab Seri Perak Darul Ridzuan (KESEDAR) members, Perak Forestry Department, Perak Fisheries Department and Pertubuhan Kayu Arang dan Jaras (KAJ).

The programme began with the arrival of guests at the Kuala Gula Forestry Department Jetty here at about 8.30am.

They were then taken by boat to the Government Land of Pulau Gula to plant 500 Bakau Minyak and Bakau Kurap Trees.

After that, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim together with State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dato' Nor Sham Rahman, Deputy State Secretary (Development) Halizah Sipun, Land and Mines Office Director Dato' Mohamad Fariz Mohamad Hanip, Kerian District Officer Mohd Sabli Bakri, Kerian District Police Chief Supt Juna Yusoff and Perak Forestry Director Dato' Mohd Basri Abdul Manaf released 3,330 Siakap fry.

The guest of honour continued his visit to the Mangrove Wood Production area around the Kuala Sepetang Forest Reserve and Matang Mangrove Forest Eco-Education Centre in Kuala Sepetang.

The main focus of the trip was to visit the Government Land of Pulau Gula which has been proposed to be gazetted as a 500-acre permanent reserve forest.

This initiative aimed to increase the area of ​​permanent forest reserves of coastal or mangrove forests, as well as preserving and conserving these areas from being encroached by exploration activities.
