Perak Government Announces RM1.215 Billion Budget: 16 December 2020.

IPOH, 16 DECEMBER 2020 - The Perak State Government has announced the 2021 State Budget with an allocation of RM1.215 billion, themed "Perak Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive".

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said, of that amount, RM785.1 million is allocated for the estimated operating expenditure, while another RM430 million is provided for development expenditure.

"The Perak State Budget 2021 will continue to focus on generating balanced economic growth, emphasising on social justice and safeguarding the well-being of the people to enjoy quality of life.

"It also leads to the sustainability of resources and environment effectively and drives the modernisation and digitisation of institutions to provide the best and clean public service delivery throughout the state," he said when tabling the 2021 State Budget at the Perak State Legislative Assembly here today.

The following is a summary of the Perak State Budget 2021 tabled by the Perak Menteri Besar : -

PERAK STATE BUDGET 2021: “PERAK RESILIENT, SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE”

INFRASTRUCTURE

• RM290.4 million to the Departments responsible for handling this matter. 

 

HOUSING

• Allocation of RM26.7 million to the Perak Housing and Property Board. 

 

AGRO-BASED INDUSTRY

• The Agriculture Department will receive an allocation of RM24.2 million for Operating Expenditure and RM8.0 million for Development Expenditure, specifically for Crop Industry Development, Agricultural Technology Enhancement, Human Capital Development and Agro-based Industry Development.

• RM22.5 million to the Department of Veterinary Services. 

 

ENVIRONMENT

• The State Government is focused on maintaining environmental sustainability with an allocation of RM48.8 million. 

 

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

• RM7.0 million to stimulate the growth of the entrepreneurial sector in Perak. 

 

ENHANCING ISLAMIC SYIAR

• The State Government has allotted RM99.6 million in the effort to further strengthen the progress of Islamic Syiar.    

 

EDUCATION AND HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

• The State Government has allocated RM84.3 million to increase human capital development in Perak, comprising RM54.9 million for school education, while RM29.4 million for higher education. 

 

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

• The State Government has earmarked RM83.9 million for the social development and welfare of the people of Perak. 

 

YOUTH AND SPORTS

• RM18.6 million for the state youth and sports development. 

 

TOURISM

• RM25.9 million is allocated for recovery efforts and maximising the potential of the tourism industry. 

 

GOVERNANCE

• RM785.1 million for Operating Expenditure of all state departments and agencies. 

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

• Inter-town bus service will be extended to Batang Padang District and Kuala Kangsar District. 

 

NON-ISLAMIC AFFAIRS

• The State Government has allotted RM10.0 million under this programme. 

 

GRANTS TO STATE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

• RM14.4 million is allocated. 

 

CIVIL SERVANTS

• Special Financial Assistance of a month’s salary to all Perak civil servants.

• Payment of RM1,000 is also extended to all Untrained Attachment Teachers, I’dadi Teachers, Thanawi Teachers, Islamic Kindergarten Teachers, Tok Batin and Part-Time Workers.
