BATU KURAU, 25 July 2021: The Perak State Government will expand the Targeted Covid-19 Community Screening Programme by using the Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Antigen) in localities with high infection rates.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said the programme started last month with an initial target of 2,000 tests and a special team had been set up to ensure the success of the programme.

“We have already bought the RTK-Antigen kits via Maju Perak and EB Holdings, and this team will be in the target areas, so areas without any cases, there is no need to go.

"Areas where there are cases, we decided yesterday and God willing, in Selama, the team will go down to do mass swabs for targeted localities like this," he said.

He said this after visiting the Vaccination Outreach Programme at Kompleks Mini Astaka and the Pondok Tanjung Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) area here.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee Chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin and Batu Kurau State Assemblyman Dato' Dr. Muhammad Amin Zakaria.

Dato' Saarani added that the Perak State Government would not propose to the Federal government that green zone areas in the state to transition from Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan to the next phase.

“I do not think the action is good because Perak is large and we do not want the risk of COVID-19 infection spreading as a result of movements in and out of the state.

"Thus, we do not intend to give freedom to one district or mukim in the green zone because there are still places under EMCO,” he said.
