KUALA KANGSAR, 10 June 2023 - Malaya First Rubber Tree (Kuala Kangsar) became the chosen location for the flag-off to symbolise the launch of the Commodity Trek Programme 2023 organised by the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (MPC).

The selection of this location gave it special significance to the country's rubber commodity sector considering that the rubber trees were brought from Brazil by Sir Henry Wickham during his expedition to Malaya in 1876.

The launch, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodities Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof, carried the theme "Driving Sustainability of National Commodities for the People’s Well-Being”.

This programme was also a platform for Dato' Sri Fadillah and MPC’s top management to meet directly with smallholders and industry players in the commodity sector and as a medium for their feedback on the current situation.

Also present were MPC Secretary-General Dato' Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin and Kuala Kangsar District Officer Zulhisham Ahmad Shukori.
