LUMUT, 15 June 2025 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the Closing Ceremony of the Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 at Lumut Waterfront here.

He said the organising of such programmes serves as an important platform for the government to listen to the people’s problems, especially concerning ongoing issues.

"As mentioned by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, the Madani Rakyat Programme 2025 provides an opportunity for the people to assess for themselves the programmes implemented by the government.

"Sometimes when we announce a policy in Parliament or in the capital, the people want to see what the figures are and where the projects are.

"That is why Cabinet Ministers, the Menteri Besar, the state government, and even our senior civil servants are asked to go down to the ground; we have the MADANI Community Prosperity Programme, where the officers know the difference between policy statements and what we implement at the grassroots level," he said.

He said this in his speech at the Closing Ceremony of the Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme 2025.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Johari Abdul, Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Communications Minister Datuk Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Perak State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim.

Also in attendance were the State Executive Council Members, Perak State Chieftains, and heads of state and federal departments.

Dato' Seri Anwar added that hearing the people’s grievances directly, such as through the organisation of PMR or dialogue sessions between leaders and the people, is very important to obtain feedback on matters that need improvement or enhancement.

"For example, every time before Friday prayers, I eat at the stalls and when I see school children, I ask 'which school, what’s the problem?' The toilets are broken. Almost at that moment, I recall that in 2022, early 2023, almost everyone told me the school toilets had not been repaired.

"Likewise, when we go anywhere, university students complain about the lack of connectivity, there are in lecture halls, but not the dormitories. So, when they want to revise or study, there are no facilities available, and with their feedback, we have resolved it, Alhamdulillah," he said.

Perak is the second location for the large-scale organisation of PMR, the result of a strategic collaboration between the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister's Department, as the main secretariat, and the Ministry of Higher Education as the lead ministry.

The programme involved the setting up of more than 40 booths from ministries, Federal Government agencies, the Perak Government, Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), and the private sector.

Among the components provided are 230 people’s touchpoint services, the involvement of 8 MADANI sales entrepreneurs, 12 employers at the Career Carnival, 75 engagement sessions on stage, 16 satellite programmes, and eight mobile service agencies.
