IPOH, 12 January 2021- Muslims are reminded not to place their trust or responsibility in those with low morals, tainted with corruption, abuse of power, untrustworthy and insincere.

HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah said the Muslim community must strongly reject those with a bad image and hypocrites, because it can tarnish the good name of the ummah and the sanctity of Islam.

Sultan Nazrin said Muslims must protect the sanctity of Islam from any form of defamation or pollution caused by competition for political gain.

"The Muslim community should be built from among the ummah who practise a perfect Islamic way of life in all fields, including family life, neighbours, community and country.

"The Muslim community should be exemplified through the excellence of the ummah in mastering knowledge, employment and profession, economic dominance and wealth ownership as well as the greatness of culture and civilization,” he said.

Sultan Nazrin said this at the Presentation Ceremony of Appointment Letters to the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) Members 2021-2023, State Fatwa Committee Members, State Syariah Court Judges and State Syarie Chief Prosecutor at Dewan Al Ghazali, Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan here today.

At the event, His Royal Highness presented letters of appointment to 18 of the 19 MAIPk members present, including Perak Dewan Negara Member who is also MAIPk President Dato’ Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini, Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Zulazlan Abu Hassan and Perak Islamic Religious Department Director Dato' Mohd Yusop Husin. Also receiving their appointment letters were Dato’ Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar who was appointed as the Perak Syariah Court Chief Judge and Mohd Asri Ghazali as the State Syarie Chief Prosecutor. Moreover, Sultan Nazrin said the Constitutional provision which states the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Rulers as the Head of the Islamic Religion, guarantees that Islam will be protected and will not be affected despite political leadership changes in the country and state, each time after a general election. He added that the glory of Islam must be upheld and not rely solely on its special position in the Constitution because with no efforts made, whatever is enshrined in the Constitution will only remain a legal phrase. "The responsibility in giving meaning to the legal phrase rests on the shoulders of every Muslim, who must strive to exemplify Islam in the culture of daily life.

 "The people are watching, listening, following what is currently happening in the country and describing the test being faced now is a result of human cruelty. "Your servant prays for the innocent ummah’s protection from calamity as a result of the cruel actions of those who have violated Your command, Ya Allah! Ya Wahhab! Ya Razak! Ya Rafiq! Ya Muiz! "On the shoulders of Your servant, You entrust a heavy responsibility as the Head of the Islamic Religion of Perak Darul Ridzuan. To You alone, Your servant prays for guidance to help him fulfill the trust entrusted, lead the congregation in seeking the straight path to eternal happiness in this world and the hereafter. "As the world faces various crises, whether in the form of infectious diseases epidemic threats, frequent natural disasters, increasingly stormy political polemics and a gloomy economic climate, fortify your belief and strengthen your faith in Allah Almighty’s infinite power,” said Sultan Nazrin.
