PARIT, 31 March 2021- The number from the Orang Asli community who have registered as recipients of the Perak National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme has increased despite facing obstacles to register using the MySejahtera application online.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said manual registration plays an important role because most Orang Asli villages experienced technological constraints such as no gadgets and no internet access.
“The state government through the Perak Information Department (JaPen) in collaboration with the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) will expand the manual registration method to all Orang Asli villages in Perak.
"Besides that, the relevant departments are expected to go down to the areas with constraints to launch the registration of vaccine receipts,” he said.
He said this at the Orang Asli Community MESRA Gathering Ceremony in Kampung Suak Padi, Bota here.
Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Youth, Sports, Communications and Multimedia Committee Chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed and Perak Information Department Director Mohd Taip Ubah.
Dato' Saarani added that he hoped the public, especially the Orang Asli community, would not believe the false news about the vaccine which was said to affect the health of the recipients.
"Various stories have been told by irresponsible people, such as this vaccine will affect health, large needles will be used for injections and many more, but I myself as the Menteri Besar have already received the vaccine injections twice on 1 and 22 March with no bad side-effects.
"We will help this community and through continuous campaign, the Special Team Coordinator for Perak Orang Asli Community will continue to intensify the promotion and go down to the affected areas for manual registration," he said.
Meanwhile, the Perak Tengah District Menteri Besar-With-Rakyat (MESRA) Programme was the third programme to be held, where Dato' Saarani spent time and reached out to the Orang Asli Community.
