IPOH, 19 May 2021- The Perak State Government has increased the level of preparedness by increasing the capacity of the Low Risk Covid Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) at the Ipoh Badminton Stadium from 208 to 308 beds to accommodate the expected increase in positive cases over the next three to four weeks.
At the same time, the state government was also in the midst of identifying new PKRC locations either in the Northern Zone or in the Hilir Perak/Manjung area in preparation for the possible increase in cases of prolonged infection.
"Perak can no longer rely on the PKRC in MAEPS Serdang, Selangor or Jawi, Seberang Perai in Penang, as the two treatment centres are also facing an increase in the number of patients," said Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad during an online media conference.
The Perak State Government has also agreed to provide food and drinks to frontliners at Vaccination Centres (PPV) as an ongoing support for their tireless efforts to break the chain of COVID-19 infection.
Meanwhile, the distribution of 20,000 smartphones for the ‘Tuisyen Cikgu Saarani’ programme has started after obtaining information on eligible students from the State Education Department (JPN) and District Education Offices (PPD).
This is to help students undergo Home-based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) and ensure that they get the education they deserve in the new normal.
