First Drive-Through Vaccination Centre In Perak.

The Drive-Through Vaccination Centre (PPV) at the Indera Mulia Stadium, Ipoh.

IPOH, 10 June 2021- The first Drive-Through Vaccination Centre (PPV) in Perak was operational today with a total of 100 vaccine recipients at the Indera Mulia Stadium, Ipoh. This number is expected to increase day by day as the skills of the team handling this matter improve.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said the continuous monitoring and support from the Perak Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and the progressively skilled frontliners was the motivation to increase drive-through service at the Stadium Indera Mulia (SIM) PPV.

"The team's ability in handling the new method of vaccination via drive-through will be tested in stages. Currently, the drive-through service is limited to second dose recipients only as it is a simpler process.

"The idea of providing the drive-through service is to ease the challenges faced by senior citizens who have to queue up using wheelchairs, walking sticks and needing attention throughout the vaccination process," he added.

Also, the addition of drive-thru counters is also expected to increase the number of vaccine recipients to 2,500 a day. This step was also taken in preparation for the next phase, i.e., those aged 60 years and below which is expected to involve many more recipients.

Meanwhile, Perak Health Director Dato’ Dr Ding Lay Ming, said the health department was always working to improve the vaccination system to make it easier for the people, so that the public would have no more excuses for not getting the vaccine.
