The Perak Menteri Besar listening to a briefing on the EMCO areas in Batu 9 Lekir.

LUMUT, 13 June 2021- The state government will continue to focus on ensuring that all 31 Vaccination Centres (PPVs) in Perak are fully operational by the end of this month.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said so far, only 18 out of 31 PPVs are functioning due to insufficient supply of COVID-19 vaccine to the centres concerned.

"This is not due to lack of manpower, it is because we want to ensure there’s adequate supply of vaccine.

“According to the announcement made by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, the vaccine supply is scheduled to arrive at the end of June and July, and if this happens, the other 13 PPVs will be operational.

He said this after inspecting the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas in three villages at Batu 9 Lekir, at the Incident Location Control Post in Tanjung Kepah here today.

The implementation of Batu 9 Lekir EMCO was effective from 6 to 19 June involving 3 villages, namely Kampung Tanjung Kepah, Kampung Batu 9 and Kampung Sungai Lombong.

Dato' Saarani added that if all 31 PPVs are fully operational, between 20,000 to 30,000 individuals are expected to be vaccinated every day.

“Currently, it is estimated about 10,000 people are vaccinated daily in the state with the target increased to 15,000 soon following the addition of vaccination methods via mobile and drive-through PPVs.

"The state government has also given permission to syarikat Maju Perak to buy vaccine to provide paid vaccination to those who can afford it," he said.

During the visit, Dato' Saarani Mohamad took the opportunity to inspect the Civil Servants Housing Multipurpose Hall PPV, Lumut Kiri, to see the vaccination process carried out.

The Phase 2 programme at the PPV went smoothly, with good commitment shown by health personnel, MyVac Volunteers, PDT Manjung staff, Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA), Civil Defence Force (APM) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
