IPOH, 16 June 2021- The state government has agreed to expand the implementation of the Perak Sejahtera Economic Stimulus Package (PRE) 2021 to more affected groups.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad announced that among the additional initiatives to be implemented is the moratorium on repayment of microcredit loans for entrepreneurs. This is under Yayasan Bina Upaya (YBU) and Yayasan Perak for one month starting June 2021.

"This facility will benefit a total of 743 entrepreneurs and involve arrears of RM244, 450.60,” he said.

The loan moratorium for the Amanjaya People’s Housing Scheme will be extended to all borrowers, i.e., 796 compared to 443 borrowers as previously announced.

Dato' Saarani also announced the implementation of the Go Cashless n E-commerce Perak Entrepreneur 2021 (GLeMMER 2021) initiative.

“This programme aims to encourage the use of cashless transactions by hawkers, traders and entrepreneurs operating during the implementation of MCO.

 “Via this programme, the state government provides subsidy vouchers for purchases and deliveries worth RM2 to RM5 which will benefit 80,000 traders, hawkers and entrepreneurs. The programme has the cooperation of 9 online and delivery platform companies, namely Shopee, Lazada, Grab, Foodpanda, Warongku, Halo Je, J&T, Touch n Go and Boost,” he added.

The incentives for tourism operators announced earlier will be expanded via one-off grants to budget hotel operators registered under the Perak Malaysian Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA Perak), as well as hotel and resort operators in Pangkor.

“With these new measures, the total PRE Perak Sejahtera which previously was worth RM19.5 million, as announced on 2 June, has now been increased to RM25.7 million, involving 44 initiatives and assistance to the people of Perak affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said at a virtual media conference today.
