GOPENG, 19 June 2021- A total of 90 residents were vaccinated via the COVID-19 Immunisation Outreach Programme held at the Kota Bharu Health Clinic, Gopeng.

State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee Chairman Dato' Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said this was the second Outreach programme, after the first at the Sahom Community Hall.

"Looking at the encouraging response from the public, we will consider holding it in a bigger area besides getting more vaccine supplies for the residents here," she said.

The COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and District Health Office had also considered the socio-economic background, distance from the Vaccination Centre, cooperation of the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) and community’s response to help make the programme a success.

Hence, residents from 6 villages near the health clinic, namely Kg. Kota Bharu, Kg. Changkat Tualang, Kg. Redang Sawa, Kg. Changkat Legong, Kg. Bunga Tanjung and Kg. Changkat Belulang have been selected for vaccination.

Also present was Kampar District Officer Khairul Anwar Ramli.

Meanwhile, Zawiyah Meor Shaari, 74, and her brother, Meor Nasir Meor Saari, 62, who is also from the Disabled Person (OKU) group, were very grateful to be given the opportunity to receive the vaccine.

“Many of my friends have received the vaccine. I was persuaded to submit my name when asked by the village head,” said Zawiyah, who was accompanied by her nephew.
