Perak Government Submits 1,389 Priority Projects Worth RM27.58 Billion - 12MP.

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 November 2021- The Perak State Government has identified 1,389 priority projects that have been submitted to the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister's Department under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the entire project identified involved a ceiling value of RM27.58 billion.
“Among the major projects that have been identified are the Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP) Development and the construction of the West Coast Expressway (WCE).
“SVTP is a new industrial park in Chemor covering an area of 1,139.2 hectares.
“This project is expected to be a driver of the high-tech manufacturing sector and act as a catalyst for the 4.0 industrial revolution.
"The area will be developed by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) within four years (2021-2024)”, he clarified.
He added that SVTP would focus on five key high-tech manufacturing sectors such as Electrical and Electronics, Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Intelligent Agriculture and Digital Economy.
Meanwhile, the WCE is a high impact project that is expected to be completed in 2024.
“Currently, Sections 8, 9 and 10 have been opened to the public at a cost of RM1.9 billion for the alignment in Perak.
"The opening of this highway will increase connectivity and facilitate access to the west coast from north to south of Peninsular Malaysia," he said.
Earlier, the EPU held a series of 12MP roadshows with the Perak State Government at the Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed said it aimed to disseminate policies, strategies and initiatives of the 12MP to all stakeholders at the state level.
He said that this involvement focused on digital development under the 12MP, as well as digitalisation especially for micro, small and medium enterprises.
He added that the government will set up the State Digital Economic and Fourth Industrial Revolution Policy (4IR) Council to harmonise digital development plans at the federal and state levels.
Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Exco Members, department heads and representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs).
