Perak Committed To Plant 2 Million Trees A Year Until 2025.

SUNGAI SIPUT, 28 November 2021- The Perak Menteri Besar congratulated State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim for his commitment in meeting the challenge of planting 10 million trees in 5 years or 2 million trees a year until 2025.

“This commitment has been translated by the state government via the setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for 2021, and Alhamdulillah, the KPIs have been fully achieved today. Congratulations to Dato' Suaidi and all those who contributed to this achievement.

"This success is a manifestation of the State Government's continuous commitment in mobilising mitigation actions to address climate change for the wellbeing of the people," he said when officiating the Perak State Level Greening Malaysia Programme: Planting the 2 Millionth Tree at Sungai Siput (North) Forestry Training Complex, Sungai Siput.

Perak Forestry Department Director Dato' Mohamed Zin Yusop also announced the involvement of the private sector in the Perak Oxygen-Land Bank (POLB).

To date, 32 private companies have contributed RM280,500 to POLB, including the planting of 2,683 trees and the adoption of 49 existing trees.

In fact, a total of 250 Keruing tree species were planted today with the Menteri Besar planting the 2 millionth tree - Keruing Gombang Merah Tree, which is an endangered tree species and needs to be protected.

Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin and State Financial Officer Dato’ Zulazlan Abu Hassan.
