Sungai Siput First Location For Perak Sejahtera Bus Programme Launch.

SUNGAI SIPUT, 16 January 2022 - The Perak State Government has allocated RM2.1 million to run the Perak Sejahtera Bus Programme in 4 districts throughout the state.
The first location choice was Sungai Siput, while Taiping, Manjung and Tapah will be implemented in stages.
"The selection of Sungai Siput for this initiative is highly appreciated by the locals and it will facilitate the daily affairs of more than 15 thousand residents from Bawong to Karai," said State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee Chairman Dato' Mohd Zolkafly Harun.
He who is also the Lintang State Assemblyman said this while officiating the Sungai Siput Perak Sejahtera Bus Programme 2022 at the Orang Asli One Stop Centre (OAOSC) in Bawong here.
He said the service also involved two 20 km routes, namely Sungai Siput-Karai and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Siput-Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bawong.
“There are 20 stops covering educational institutions, community centres, health facilities, towns and villages and Orang Asli settlements.
"The service which charges RM1 for a one-way trip will start tomorrow from 6.30am until 7.30pm," he added.
He said the state government will also expand the Perak Sejahtera Bus service to several other areas, such as Kamunting and Chenderiang.
The areas selected for this bus service were based on the community’s request and studies conducted by the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) before being approved.
Meanwhile, Dato' Mohd Zolkafly also had the opportunity to launch the Orang Asli Farmers Market, just opposite the OAOSC in Bawong, Sungai Siput.
Currently, 18 stalls are operating where all the traders are local Orang Asli residents.
Also present were Orang Asli Development Department (Development) Deputy Director General Zambri Mustajap, Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council President Zulqarnain Mohamad, UPEN Deputy Sectoral Director Kumaresan A/L Lingam and Sungai Siput Chief Assistant District Officer Mohd Azhar Alias.
