Ipoh Mirror Lake Eco Park Geosite To Be A Tourist Attraction Area

Guests visiting the Mirror Lake area, to be renamed Ipoh Mirror Lake Eco Park.

IPOH, 26 February 2022 - The Mirror Lake (Tasik Cermin) geosite area will be developed as the first Eco Park in Malaysia.

State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee Chairman Dato' Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said the lake is an old former quarry area which no longer operates. It has two lakes and two tunnels that are very unique.

“The name change, i.e. Ipoh Mirror Lake Eco Park will attract more tourists to Ipoh and Perak.

“In this regard, Ipoh City Council (MBI) has appointed Syarikat Tasik Cermin Tourism Sdn Bhd to develop a 65-acre area in Gunung Rapat.

"Today is the 42nd day of the Mirror Lake Eco Park development with a low carbon concept using environmentally-friendly materials as this area is one of the 19 geosites within the Kinta Valley Geopark," she said after the Ipoh Mirror Lake Eco Park Pre-Launch Ceremony.

She added that the developer has collaborated with several entrepreneurial agencies, such as SME Corp, MARA, Tekun, PUNB, SME Bank and SIRIM, which would open up business opportunities here.

There are also facilities provided, such as surau, public toilets, comfortable pedestrian and disabled people areas, parking and food and beverage stalls.

She said the cooperation of public and private sectors in developing such geosite areas could indirectly help the state government in preserving and promoting the Kinta Valley Geopark as one of the main National Geoparks in Malaysia.

The pre-launch was also attended by Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, City Council Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak and Ipoh Mirror Lake Eco Park Tourism Development Director Siti Norlizawati Narawi.
