IPOH, 14 May 2022 - The State Government through the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and Ipoh City Council launched the Ipoh Heritage Tourism (IHT) Project worth RM11 million in Ipoh Padang here tonight.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said plans have been made to intensify the promotion of domestic tourism and preparations for the Visit Perak Year 2025 by creating new packages directly or in collaboration with the private sector.
“In that context, MBI is upgrading the Ipoh Tourism Triangle area in an effort to revitalise the local tourism industry to attract local and international tourists.
"The area comprised Gunung Lang, Taman D.R Seenivasagam and Ipoh Padang, including Ipoh Old town to Masjid Paloh and Kampung Kuchai to create tourist attractions in the city centre," he said when officiating the opening ceremony.
He added that in Ipoh Padang, a total of 10 video themes will be arranged for screening for three days starting on the opening day.
“The IHT project started on 2 September 2020, and the development of Ipoh Padang involving the installation of light and sound show infrastructure to display the history and culture of Perak, tourist destinations and memoir of Perak's famous cartoonist, Datuk Lat has been fully completed. The entire IHT Project will be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
