Mesra Programme Takes Heed Of The Voice And Problems Of The People

TAIPING, 30 May 2022 - The Menteri Besar Bersama Rakyat (Mesra) programme continued its tour to the Bukit Gantang Parliament constituency to listen to the voices and resolve the problems of the people in the area.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the field trip to Larut, Matang and Selama District, especially the Bukit Gantang Parliament constituency was for the state government to see for itself the problems of the people here.

“We have briefings from the Larut, Matang and Selama Chief ADO on issues and problems here and the state government have taken note of eight issues.

“Of the eight issues, six will be resolved via their respective departments, including land related issues in Simpang Halt to be resolved by the Perak State Development Corporation and the flood problem in two areas where the state government has approved an allocation of RM500,000 for upgrading of drains, i.e. RM300,000 for Kampung Padang Bola and RM200,000 for Kampung Paya,” he said.

He said this to reporters at the Menteri Besar’s Mesra Programme in Larut, Matang and Selama District in Changkat Jering here.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato’ Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Zulazlan Abu Hasan and State Education, Higher Education and Human Resources Committee Chairman Saidi Mohamed Daud, who is also the Changkat Jering ADUN. 

The Menteri Besar added that as usual at every MESRA Programme, there will be a Town Hall session for civil servants, community leaders and the public to express their opinions and ideas for improvement. 

“This afternoon, we held an engagement session with civil servants where various ideas were shared and later in the evening another session with entrepreneurs, NGOs and local leaders will be held. 

“The objective of the engagement session is to listen to the complaints, suggestions and grievances of the people as on 15 June, the state government will launch the Perak Sejahtera Plan 2030 and the framework and its content depend on the wishes and voices of the people of Perak by district, area and their age," he added. 

Meanwhile, via the Bukit Gantang Parliamentary Mesra Programme, the state government has conducted discussions related to development proposals for areas around the West Coast Expressway (WCE) alignment so that the surrounding land can be utilised for development with economic impact to the people in the area.
