MOH Targets 1.5 Million People To Join National Health Screening Initiative.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is targeting 1.5 million Malaysians aged 40 and above to undergo health screening this year.
IPOH, 16 July 2022 - The Ministry of Health (MOH) is targeting 1.5 million Malaysians aged 40 and above, particularly for those who have never undergone health screening to do so this year.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said this at the Perak State Level Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS) Tour and National Health Screening Initiative Launch Ceremony at the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout, Meru Raya.
"About 53% of Malaysian adults have not undergone health screening in the past year. This shows the people's awareness on the importance of health screening is still low.
"Hence, the National Health Screening initiative will be carried out from July to December," he said at the event.
He added that with the health screening programme through the ministry and ProtectHealth via the B40 Health Care Scheme (PeKa B40), the government offers free comprehensive health screening.
"I am confident with this initiative, more people will be aware of the diseases they have from the early stages, for example pre-diabetes.
"Early advice and treatment can be given to reduce and control the number of people suffering from serious diseases.
"Consequently, it can reduce congestion in hospitals and health clinics," he explained.
He said health screening is also one of the new features in the upgraded MySejahtera.
At the same time, baby immunisation records, starting with babies born on 1July 2022 are also displayed on the application.
Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin, Health Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Harjeet Singh and KKM Deputy Director-General of Health (Public Health) Datuk Dr Norhayati Rusli.
