HRH Sultan of Perak said verses 47-49 of Surah Yusuf should be used as a reference.

IPOH, 30 July 2022 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah said that verses 47-49 of Surah Yusuf should be used as a reference by various parties to deal with food security issues.

"The call to be thrifty, to save wisely, to prepare oneself to face the catastrophe as mentioned in Surah Yusuf provides an important and very relevant lesson in the scenario that is currently affecting the world.

"Allah S.W.T has blessed the ummah of this country with a wealth of natural resources, a vast and fertile land, a favourable climate and rain throughout the year; factors with elements of perfection to facilitate the ummah to produce food," said His Royal Highness.

In fact, there should be a massive movement to meet food supply needs, he added.

"If serious measures are not implemented immediately, we will face a food emergency. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the underlying philosophy behind the concept of rice granaries in the Malay community.

"Efforts need to be done diligently and focused on to reduce imports. Strategic measures need to be introduced to create a new generation of farmers, expand the food crop areas and encourage production via modern methods even on small-sized land," said Sultan Nazrin during the Perak State Level Maal Hijrah 1444H Celebration at Hotel Casuarina@Meru this morning.

Also gracing the occasion were HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, HH Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and HH Raja Puan Besar Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris A'fifullah Shah.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) President Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd.
