Perak Choice Of XP Power To Build First Plant In Malaysia.

SERI ISKANDAR, 8 September 2022 - Electrical and electronics component (E&E) manufacturing company, XP Power Pte Ltd has chosen Perak as the site to set up its first plant in Malaysia and third in Southeast Asia, proving that the state government's economic recovery measures are progressively bearing fruit.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the presence of XP Power Malaysia will certainly have a very significant impact on the development of the state in general and the Perak Tengah district in particular.

"The implementation of the project’s first phase, known as Asia III, will involve an investment of RM300 million, thus making it XP Power's largest investment in the region.

"The construction of the plant on an 8.5 hectares industrial lot will start this month and is expected to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2024. 

He said this after officiating the XP Power (Malaysia) Electrical & Electronics Development Project Facility Groundbreaking Ceremony, Pharmaceutical Industrial Park here today.

He added that the company, with more than three decades of experience in the industry since 1988 and a reputation as one of the 250 companies listed on the London Stock Exchange, is interested in establishing partnerships with local institutions of higher education and skills to employ as much local manpower and expertise as possible.

"XP Power will collaborate with Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO), Taiping Advanced Technology Centre (ADTEC), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Industrial Training Institute (ILP) Ipoh and Perak Entrepreneur Skills Development Centre (PESDC) Ipoh.

"I hope Perakians, especially the youth, can take up the quality career opportunities at the management, executive, engineering, technical or supervisory levels, thus realising one of the cores of the Prosperous Perak 2030 Plan, that is 'Quality and High-Value Expertise'," he said.

Also present were State Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Dato' Shahrul Zaman Datuk Yahya, State Youth, Sports, Communication and Multimedia Committee Chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed, Perak Invest Management Centre (InvestPerak) Chief Executive Izran Abdullah and XP Power Chief Financial Officer Oskar Zahn.
