TELUK INTAN, 21 October 2022 - The state government will always strive to understand and facilitate the needs of flood victims.

State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim said this when chairing the Perak Disaster Management Meeting No. 3/2022 which was attended by the District Disaster Management Committee Chairmen at the Teluk Intan Municipal Council (MPTI) this morning.

"I am asking for cooperation between departments and agencies, especially when dealing with flood victims who are anxious, worried and so on to understand their needs. Therefore, all dealings need to be simplified, for example, the use of forms.

"We want to avoid them from filling out too many forms. If the information or matter is the same, it is sufficient if we use only one form," he explained.

In addition, he also emphasised on the preparedness of assets and logistics on the ground.

"Although we have emphasised this several times, the point here is that every asset needs to be maintained from time to time to ensure that it can function properly when there is a flood and the rescue operation runs smoothly.

"This also includes other necessities such as floodlights, life jackets and boat fuel. In fact, every facility in the PPS, such as toilets and surau also need to be inspected," he said.

Not only that, he also stressed on the coordination of Temporary Relief Centres (PPS) and polling stations to avoid overlapping during the 15th General Election (GE15).

"All the dates related to GE15 have been announced, so I urge all the chairmen to immediately make alternative decision in the event of overlapping between the PPS and polling station," he added.

Also present were State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, Perak Police Chief CP Dato' Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, MPTI President Hizaz Mohd Ibrahim and Hilir Perak District Civil Defense Officer Captain (PA) Mohd Fazly Mohamad Zawawi.
