HM Yang Di-Pertuan Agong And HM Raja Permaisuri Agong Grace UPSI 100th Anniversary Dinner.

TANJUNG MALIM, 1 December 2022 - His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria graced a Dinner Reception ‘Seluhur Budi Sekalung Kasih' in conjunction with SITC-MPSI-IPSI-UPSI 100th Anniversary at Dewan Tuanku Canselor, Kampus Sultan Azlan Shah Campus, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).

The arrival of Their Majesties at 8.50pm was greeted by HRH Sultan Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubir, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin and State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin.

The ceremony began with a welcome speech by UPSI Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato' Dr Md Amin Md Taff.

According to him, the sacred date of this education centre was on 29 November 1922, beginning as Sultan Idris Training College (SITC) and later, Sultan Idris Teachers College (MPSI) in 1957 and Sultan Idris Teachers Institute (IPSI) in 1987, before being upgraded to UPSI in 1997.

He added that throughout the establishment of UPSI, many outstanding figures of leadership, linguistics, literature, entrepreneurship and volunteering were produced thus enriching the name of the institution known as 'Ibu Kandung Suluh Budiman'.

At the same event, His Majesty also launched the UPSI 100 years commemorative stamp in collaboration with Pos Malaysia, as well as special edition coins in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

The special stamp designed with the theme 'Terbilang Merentasi Empat Zaman' for the SITC-MPSI-IPSI-UPSI 100th Anniversary Celebration was to commemorate UPSI's contribution and service to the nation’s education.

The stamp was issued on 30 November at a price of RM33.80 and it can be found at all Malaysian Post Offices.
