HRH Sultan of Perak gracing the first session of USAS 15th Convocation Ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak.

KUALA KANGSAR, 3 December 2022 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah graced the first session of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) 15th Convocation Ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak this morning.

The arrival of His Royal Highness was welcomed by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jeneral Dato' Seri Diraja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin (Bersara) and USAS Vice-Chancellor Tan Sri Prof. Dato' Dr. Nordin Kardi.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin and State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin.

The convocation saw a total of 1,908 graduates, comprising four with doctor of philosophy degrees, 47 with master's degrees, 990 with bachelor's degrees and the rest from diploma graduates.

At the convocation ceremony, five awards were presented, namely the Tuanku Chancellor's Award, Perak Menteri Besar’s Award, USAS Vice-Chancellor's Award, Faculty of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences Best Award and Faculty of Management and Information Technology Best Award.

The seven recipients of the awards were Wan Mohammad Afiq Wan Aris Fathillah (Tuanku Chancellor's Award), Nurul Ayu Shahira Basri (Perak Menteri Besar’s Award), Nuramirah Aisyah Ahmad Fuad (USAS Vice-Chancellor’s Award), Faiz Marsus and Muhammad Hasti Mohd Razali (Faculty of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences Best Award) and Mohamad Farith Amer Mohamad Hallaj and Nur Mardhiah Maisara Mohamed Ali (Faculty of Management and Information Technology Best Award).

Meanwhile, Wan Mohammad Afiq Wan Aris Fathillah said that family was the booster for him to achieve success.

"Losing my father in 2013 when I was sitting for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) was very sad and the results at that time were very bad, but thanks to my mother's fortitude, I succeeded," he said.

Currently, he is an Information Officer at the Perak State Strategic Communication Unit and intends to pursue a Master's degree in Computer Science at USAS or other learning institutions.
