IPOH, 20 December 2022 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah called on the appointed state government leaders to carry out the responsibilities entrusted them with sincerity, honesty, fairness and impartiality in accordance with the constitution and the law.

His Royal Highness said the mandate and trust given by the people to be a State Assemblyman is a trust and a heavy responsibility to be fulfilled that demands great sacrifice.

"Fulfill the responsibilities entrusted with sincerely, honesty, fairness and impartiality based on the constitution and the law. Avoid arrogant and conceited traits by not adopting a winner-takes-all culture.

"Instead, be fair and just in allocating resources and implementing development programmes impartially without prejudice, discrimination and oppression against any party, for every voter is a Divine being and every inch of this state is under the sovereignty of the Sultan of Perak.

"Hence, the people should not be punished to bear hardships. Instead, by upholding the spirit of democracy, the interests and welfare of every ordinary citizen should be in the hearts of leaders and always be prioritised," he said.

His Royal Highness said this at the Official Opening Ceremony of the First Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today.

Sultan Nazrin Shah added that the people need efficient economic governance to enable the resumption of active economic activities.

"The people want a government that is capable and energetic in administering the state's affairs and bring meaningful economic growth. They want a government that manages the state's resources wisely, and strict control of pilferage and leakage of resources, as well as diligently avoiding waste.

"It is very important for my government to listen and understand the concerns the people are facing, such as unemployment, high cost of living, food supply and security, environmental sustainability, education, healthcare, housing as well as quality public relations and digital communication.

"Thus, my government will think of strategic measures with the Federal Government to create a favourable investment climate, increase job opportunities, tackle the cost of living, ensure food supply and security, and improve social facilities and services. Fulfill the people's expectations, fulfill the people's trust," said His Royal Highness.
