IPOH, 5 January 2023 - A total of 39 Perak athletes received incentives from the state government for excellent achievements at the 20th Para Malaysian Games (Para SUKMA) 2022 in Kuala Lumpur last November.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said that the incentives were given to the medallists as a token of appreciation and recognition for the entire contingent.

"As promised, the gold medallist will be given an incentive of RM5,000 each for individual event, silver medallist RM3,000 each and bronze medallists RM1,000 each. The incentives will also be given to the five record-breakers in the Para SUKMA athletics.

"It was even more proud that the Para SUKMA Sportswoman Award was won by Perak para archer Nur Jannaton Abdul Jalil, who created history by winning three gold medals," he said.

He said this at a press conference after presenting incentives to the Para SUKMA Contingent at MH Hotel here.

Also present were State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee Chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah, State Youth and Sports Department Director Mohd Soufi Mohd Ibrahim and Perak Sports Council Director Mazlan Mohamad.

The Menteri Besar added that the coaches and team managers would also receive an incentive of RM18,500 for their commitment and efforts.

"This success makes us very proud as Perakians and will definitely be an aspiration for young people.

"It is my great hope to see success after success continue to be carved by Perak’s athletes, because for me, nothing is impossible to achieve if we work hard and unite in giving support to our athletes," he said.

Meanwhile, at the Games, the Perak Para SUKMA Contingent managed to bring home 29 gold, 21 silver and 18 bronze medals through nine sports events.
