Launch Ceremony Of Perak State Level Road Safety And Integrated Ops Campaign.

GOPENG, 19 January 2023 - The Perak Road Safety Council together with departments and agencies launched the State Level Road Safety and Integrated Ops Campaign in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Celebration 2023 on the 22 and 23 January.

State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee Chairman Dato' Seri Ir Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said maintaining the same theme "Drive Carefully, Arrive Safely", the campaign will start from 18 to 28 January.

"This will involve various enforcement agencies focussing on four main cores, i.e., education and advocacy, enforcement, prevention and monitoring, and evaluation.

"Such campaigns are an ongoing effort by the state government to reduce the rate of accidents and deaths on the road and to regulate the movement of vehicles to reduce traffic congestion, especially during the festive season," he said.

Representing Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, he said this when delivering his speech at the Road Safety and Integrated Ops Campaign Launch Ceremony in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2023 at R&R RTC Gopeng here.

Also present were Perak Police Chief CP Dato' Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Perak Road Transport Department Director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan and Malaysian Highway Authority Northern Region Director Azleen Jaludin.

Dato' Seri Ir Mohammad Nizar said the campaign and ops carried out show that the government is serious in achieving the target of reducing the number of deaths and injuries due to road accidents by at least 50% by 2030 based on the UN General Assembly Resolution 74/299 (31 August 2020).

"Today's event is the result of the collaboration between the state government and various departments and agencies at the federal and state levels, comprising the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Public Works Department (JKR), Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), Civil Defence Force (APM), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and PLUS Expressways Berhad.

"All highway users are advised to comply with the travel rules and signages when passing through all roads and toll plazas to ensure smooth traffic flow and plan their journey according to the Travel Time Advisory to be issued by the concession companies soon," he added.
