IPOH, 23 February 2023 - Every civil servant needs to have empathy to deliver the best service to the people.
State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim said this in his speech at the Kampar District and Land Office in conjunction with the One-Day Programme With The State Secretary.
"One interesting thing when we listen to the message of Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, is the word empathy.
"Empathy is how we manage things, put ourselves in the people’s shoes. It is not sympathy but a sense of responsibility to solve the people's problems.
"In fact, this word has become important for management nowadays. Currently, society is increasingly exposed to technology that can access various perceptions.
"We should avoid negative perceptions towards civil servants and provide the best service to the people who need us.
"For example, when a customer comes to us for land application and the land has been gazetted as reserve land. We need to give a prudent explanation to the customer. It is improper if we disregard the application for a long period of time without any decision to the applicant," he elaborated.
He said this working visit aimed to examine the implementation results of the state government's policies launched. The meeting was also so that everyone can share their views to improve the quality of civil servants’ services.
Later, he took the time to visit Ilham Seni@Kampar, the Chief Assistant District Officer's quarters, Kampar Hospital, Bandar Agacia, Tunku Abdul Rahman University Hospital and Pejabat Penghulu Mukim Teja.
Also present were Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dato' Norsham Rahman, Deputy State Secretary (Development)Halizah Sipun, Kampar District Officer Nazrul Fazami Mohamad and Kampar District Council President Ahmad Suqairy Alias.
