Perak Committed To Plant 2.5 Million Trees This Year.

IPOH, 27 February 2023 - The Perak State Government is committed in targeting the planting of about 2.5 million trees this year.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the state government previously had set a target to plant 10 million trees in 5 years or two million trees a year throughout the state.
"In 2021, we achieved the target of planting 2.17 million trees with an area of 5,568.01 hectares, while the total last year was 2.33 million trees with an area of 6,152 hectares for the state.
"Hence, this year I hope we are able to surpass the target of about 2.5 million trees," he said in a press conference at the Kledang Saiong Eco-Forest Park here.
Earlier, Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad officiated the Water Head Early Warning System (EWS) and Kick-Off of the Malaysia Greening Programme of the 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign 2023.
Also present were State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Director-General Dato' Indera Mohd Ridza Awang, Perak Forestry Director Dato' Mohamed Zin Yusop and State Exco Members.
Dato' Seri Saarani added that the EWS system was developed with an allocation of RM800,000 from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change.
"The system aims to make the eco-forest park a safe, comfortable and conducive ecotourism destination.
"This system has been completed in two forest eco-parks in Perak, namely Kledang Saiong Eco-Forest Park and Lata Iskandar Eco-Forest Park, and indirectly it can attract domestic and international tourists to the area," he said.
