A total of 158 Chinese new village heads were appointed by the Perak State Executive Council.

IPOH, 12 April 2023- A total of 158 Chinese new village heads were appointed by the Perak State Executive Council to manage local community affairs in their respective areas.

The appointment was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad at the Handing Over Ceremony of Appointment Letters of Chinese New Village Heads at the Perak State Secretariat Multipurpose Hall.

"The appointment of these village heads is not easy because they are the representatives of the community who are closest to the people.

"The village head is in the village every day drinking coffee with the community. For this reason, the selection of the village head must meet certain criteria.

"They need to be to be good listeners and be skillful in communicating with the local people," Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said in his speech.

Also present were State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs and Chinese New Village Committee Chairman Woo Kah Leong and New Village Division Director Lim Shean Lee.

The ceremony ended with the recitation of pledge by all the Chinese new village heads appointed, led by Kamunting New Village Head Ng Leong Wei.
