IPOH, 16 July 2023 - The National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2023 Launch Ceremony held today was filled with a patriotic atmosphere as a symbolic start to this year's National Month celebrations.

The launch, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof representing Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was held for the first time at the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout in Meru Raya here with the attendance of about 10,000 visitors.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Minister of Communications and Digital Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd. Zuki Ali, Ministry of Communications and Digital Secretary-General Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohd Zahir Mohd Khalid, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State

Exco Members and heads of state and federal departments.

Thousands of participants began filling the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout as early as 6am for the 6,600 Langkah Perpaduan programme to be flagged off by Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil as the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 Main Committee Chairman.

After the programme at about 10am, the event continued on the main stage with a prayer recitation followed by speeches from Ahmad Fahmi, Dato' Seri Saarani and Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof.

The ceremony was enlivened with dance and singing performances followed by the raising of the Jalur Gemilang by Royal Malaysian Navy personnel, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku.

Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof then flagged off the Kembara Merdeka and Jalur Gemilang 2023 convoy, which will traverse the country in conjunction with the National Month Celebrations.

In conjunction with the launch, a Kita MADANI Carnival was also held with various interesting activities, such as a Rahmah Sale, discounts for selected police summons, patriotic stars competition, quizzes, artist performances and so forth.
