MANJUNG, September 23, 2023 – The Perak Territorial Army Support Committee (JAKPAW) for the first time organised the Pure Soul Environmental Sustainability Project 2023 which is based on the concept of love for the environment - to always preserve and conserve the beauty of the environment.

The programme began with the release of baby turtles by State Secretary Colonel (Honorary) Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, who is also the Perak State JAKPAW Chairman, at the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre, Pasir Panjang, Segari.

A total of 29 baby turtles about three weeks old were released as early as 7.00 am.

The programme continued with the planting of mangrove saplings in the Tanjung Burung Forest Reserve.

Also present were 503 Territorial Army Regiment Commander Colonel Syed Nasir Sayed Mahadi, 503 Territorial Army Regiment Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Sabri Baharuddin, Perak Forestry Department (Silviculture and Biodiversity) Principal Assistant Director Azmi Mohd Zain and Perak Fisheries Office Kampung Acheh Resource Protection Branch Head Mohd Sharifuddin Abdul Manan.

The planting of these saplings was started earlier by Perak JAKPAW members on 22 September 2023, making a total of 700 Oil Mangrove saplings planted today.

The next activity was the planting of Beach Casuarina (Rhu Pantai) saplings at Taman Eko Rimba, Pasir Panjang, Segari.

The organising of this programme also proved the State’s commitment in achieving the target of planting two million trees a year or 10 million trees for five years until 2025 to support the 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign which began in 2021.

The event ended with the presentation of souvenirs and a lunch reception.
