HRH Sultan of Perak gracing the Certificate Presentation Ceremony of the Pulau Sembilan Conservation Day Programme 2023.

IPOH, 7 November 2023 – HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah graced the Certificate Presentation Ceremony of the Pulau Sembilan Conservation Day Programme 2023 at Casuarina@Meru here.

Accompanying His Royal Highness were HH Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and HH Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jen. Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin (Rtd), State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Exco Members, Perak State Parks Corporation Acting Director Lau Ching Fong and heads of departments and agencies.

Dato' Seri Saarani in his speech said, during the Pulau Sembilan Conservation Day Programme on 23 September, more than 2 tons of garbage were collected in the waters of the Pulau Sembilan islands.

"The trash collected comprised fishing equipment, plastic, aluminum, glass and non-recyclable materials.

"It was a collaborative effort among volunteers and divers of the Nature and Oceanography Advocate Society, Royal Malaysian Navy, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Sahabat Alam Malaysia and Samudera 9 Perak," he said.

At the ceremony, Sultan Nazrin presented certificates of appreciation to representatives of departments and agencies as well as volunteers who made the Pulau Sembilan Conservation Day Programme 2023 a success.

Pulau Sembilan is one of the state parks under the administration of the Perak State Parks Corporation and was gazetted as a State Park on 14 October 2010.

It has an area of ​​214.82 hectares and consists of nine islands, namely Pulau Rumbia, Pulau Lalang, Pulau Agas, Pulau Payung, Pulau Saga, Pulau Nipis, Pulau Buluh, Batu Putih and Batu Hitam.
