HRH Sultan Of Perak Joins In Sultan Nazrin Shah Birthday Run 2023.

His Royal Highness flagging off the participants of the 15km and 10km categories.

TAIPING, 19 November 2023 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah participated in the Sultan Nazrin Shah Birthday Run 2023 at Dataran Warisan this morning.

Also participating in the run were HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim and her daughter, HH Raja Nazira Safya Sultan Nazrin Shah and HH Raja Kecil Sulong Perak Raja Dato' Seri Ahmad Nazim Azlan Shah Raja Ashman Shah.

Accompanying them was the Sultan's sister, HH Raja Dato' Seri Yong Sofia Sultan Azlan Shah who consented to flag off the VVIPs and other dignitaries category, involving a distance of 3 km.

Among them were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jen. Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin (Rtd), State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, Perak Police Chief CP Dato' Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Taiping Member of Parliament Wong Kah Woh and 200 other guests of honour.

The run, held in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin Shah’s 67th Birthday which was celebrated on 3 November, attracted more than 9,000 participants from all walks of life.

His Royal Highness flagged off the 4,240 participants of the 15km category at about 7.00am, and the 4,179 runners of the 10km at around 7.10am.

After 10 years of the same event being held in the Kuala Kangsar district, for the first time, Taiping was chosen in conjunction with its 150th Anniversary as a Heritage Town in 2024.

Around the Lake Gardens, the running event was enlivened with performances by the Malays, Chinese and Indians, as well as music by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) band.

At the Padang Esplanade, it was brightened up with military exhibitions, combat demonstrations and free fall (Parachute) by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), band formation and the 'Fire Dragon' show.

The Perak Museum also organised people's sports activities, painting fridge magnets and World War II exhibitions.

The Prison Department held a special exhibition by displaying the uniforms of previous prison officers, craft exhibitions, ceramics and sale of prison products.

Before leaving, His Royal Highness consented to grace a reception and a prize-giving ceremony.
