Perak State Budget 2024 Passed.

The Perak State Assembly today unanimously passed the State Budget 2024 totalling RM1.35 billion.

IPOH, 7 December 2023 - The Perak State Assembly today unanimously passed the State Budget 2024 totalling RM1.35 billion during the Fifth Meeting of the First Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

The motion passed under the Supply Enactment Bill 2024 and Development Fund Proposal 2024 was unanimously supported by all the 53 State Assemblymen present.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad today wound up the debate on the Perak Budget 2024 before being passed.

According to him, the State Government is committed in ensuring that the budget is responsive to the economic uncertainties, including the rising cost of living that continues to burden the people.

"Besides increasing the rate of the Social Welfare Department assistance from RM300 to RM400, the Perak Sejahtera Card aid, which was previously increased from RM80 to RM90, will be further increased to RM100.

"The State Government will continue the Government Mobile Shop initiative with an allocation of RM0.82 million to ensure that the underprivileged, including those in rural areas, can buy essential goods at cheaper prices.

"The Food Box Aid Programme to help the food needs of the B40 group, the poor, the hardcore poor and disaster victims throughout Perak will also continue with an allocation of RM5 million," he said.

He added that the Perak State Government has also allocated RM45.5 million to coordinate, improve and smoothen governance, including strengthening the government delivery system in all 59 state constituencies in Perak.

Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid announced that the Perak Budget 2024 was passed in the second and third readings after the State Assemblymen expressed their unanimous agreement without any amendments to the budget.

Meanwhile, the Perak State Budget 2024 tabled on 1 December saw a budget with an estimated operating expenditure of RM856 million and development expenditure of RM491 million.
