His Royal Highness then declared open the 16th USAS Convocation Ceremony.

KUALA KANGSAR, 9 December 2023 – HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah graced the first session of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) 16th Convocation Ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak this morning.

The Sultan’s arrival was welcomed by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad and Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja General (Rtd) Dato' Seri Diraja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin.

His Royal Highness then declared open the 16th USAS Convocation Ceremony and presented the instrument of appointment as USAS Pro-Chancellor to Tan Sri Prof. Dato' Dr. Nordin Kardi.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin and State Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee Chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah.

The convocation saw a total of 1,525 graduates, comprising 12 PhDs, 34 master's degrees, nine postgraduate diplomas, 778 bachelor's degrees and 692 diplomas.

His Royal Highness also presented five awards, namely the Chancellor's Award, Perak Menteri Besar Award, USAS Vice-Chancellor's Award, Faculty of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences Best Award, and Faculty of Management and Information Technology Best Award.

The award recipients were Mohamed Aiedil Putera Sulaiman, Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) (Chancellor's Award); Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Zamri, Usuluddin Bachelor's Degree (Hadith) (Honours) (Perak Menteri Besar Award); and Aljazira Zainal, Islamic Counseling Diploma (Vice-Chancellor's Award).

The Faculty of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences Best Award recipients were Luqman Haqim Awang Kecil (Master's Degree in Arabic) (Honours) and Mohamad Syahrul Asas Ab Malik (Diploma in Islamic Studies).

The Faculty of Management and Information Technology Best Award recipients were Siti Nur Izzati Jumali (Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science) (Honours) and Nurdania Fatihah Mohd Rohaizan (Diploma in Accounting).

HRH Sultan of Perak then consented to attend a reception together with the award recipients and their parents before concluding the event.
