HRH Sultan of Perak delivering his royal address.

IPOH, 12 January 2024 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah said that knowledge is the core for developing a progressive society and a great civilisation.

He said the level of mastery of knowledge will determine the depth of understanding, the degree of comprehending and the proficiency level in certain aspects of life.

"Knowledge is a component that will shape the values of a person's personality, that will raise the standard of community life, and that will elevate the glory of a nation and its country.

"In fact, knowledge acts as the strongest shield to protect people from slipping in faith due to being influenced by the interpretations of pseudo-scholars, or deviating understanding due to the words of false leaders disguised in religious masks," said His Royal Highness.

Sultan Nazrin said this at the Presentation Ceremony of Appointment Letters to Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) Members for the 2024-2025 Term and Perak Syariah Court Judges, as well as the Zakat Handover Ceremony at Dewan Al-Ghazali, Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan here.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jen. Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin (Bersara), State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Exco Members and MAIPk President Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini.

Sultan Nazrin added that if the grandeur of Islam is to be enhanced, if the pride of the nation is to be elevated, efforts to enrich the young generation with knowledge must be prioritised, through a well-structured and strategic movement that is coordinated and consolidated.

"In the quest to develop this strategic approach, MAIPk and the institutions of the Territorial Chiefs, the Islamic Religious Department, Education Department, Youth and Sports Department, Perak Foundation, State Youth Council and Mosque Committee must collaborate in order to create this strategic networking.

"The combined networking can also optimise, synchronise and coordinate resources and energy, pioneer initiatives, introduce and implement programmes more innovative and creative in nature, targeted and focused in accordance with current challenges and needs," said Sultan Nazrin.
