IPOH, 6 June 2024 - HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the Launch of Etiqa’s Free Mammogram Programme - Phase 6 with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) at the Casuarina Convention Centre here.

Etiqa, a leader in insurance and takaful in Malaysia, continued its partnership with NCSM by targeting 6,000 underprivileged women to get free mammogram screenings, thereby raising public awareness about breast cancer.

The national level programme, valued at RM2.01 million, is fully funded by Etiqa under its corporate social responsibility programme called 'Etiqa Cares', and for the sixth phase, it is scheduled to run from June 2024 to June 2025 across all states in Malaysia.

Etiqa International Holdings Chairman Datuk R. Karunakaran in his speech said, up to Phase 5, Etiqa has spent up to RM9.7 Million to help 27,500 underprivileged women in Peninsular Malaysia to undergo free breast cancer screenings.

"The 6th phase of this programme also sees Etiqa funding screenings for 50,000 Malaysians through Etiqa National Mobile Screening Clinic in rural and urban areas.

"The mobile clinic provides mobile screenings for breast, cervical and prostate cancers conveniently in the beneficiary areas. To date, 50,000 Malaysians have benefited from it," he said.

During the programme, HRH the Raja Permaisuri of Perak also graciously presented certificates of appreciation to the hospital panels involved in making the programme a success.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Aezer Zubin, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja’s wife Toh Puan Datin Seri DiRaja Puan Sri Rasiah Md Nor, Perak State Assembly Speaker’s wife Datin Aznee Abu Samah, State Secretary’s wife Datin Che Fauziah Ahmad, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Perak State Assemblymen, Territorial Chiefs, NCSM Managing Director Associate Prof Dr. Murallitharan Munisamy and heads of departments and agencies.
