IPOH, 5 August 2024 – Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Dato' Johari Abdul made a working visit to the Perak State Legislative Assembly to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Malaysian Parliament and Perak State Legislative Assembly in empowering the legislative institutions.

His arrival with the delegation was welcomed by State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid, State Assembly Deputy Speaker Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dato' Nor Sham Rahman and State Assembly and Exco Division Secretary Abdul Majid Abdul Rahim.

Before starting the visit, Tan Sri Johari paid a courtesy call on Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad at the Menteri Besar's Office Meeting Room here.

He and his delegation were then escorted to the State Operations Room for a discussion and exchange of views on the challenges in the management of state assembly sittings and empowering the country's legislative institutions.

After the session, they were taken to visit the Perak State Assembly Hall to see the condition of the room.

Also present were Malaysian Parliament chief administrator Datuk Muhamad Zamani Mohd Ali, Dewan Rakyat Secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin, Dewan Rakyat Speaker’s Senior Private Secretary Ahmad Farhan Mohd Khalid and senior officers of the Malaysian Parliament.

Perak was Tan Sri Dato' Johari’s third working visit to the State Legislative Assemblies in Peninsular Malaysia, after Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.

The series of visits is the best platform and early preparation in welcoming the 2024 Conference of Speakers of Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies in Malaysia, to be held in September in Sarawak.
