This meeting focused on the proposed supply of treated water from Perak to Penang as the issue was of mutual interest.

GEORGETOWN, 9 August 2024 – State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim led a delegation from the Perak State Secretariat (SUK) to the Penang State Secretariat in Komtar, Penang.

Accompanying him were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki  Mahyudin, Deputy State Secretary (Development) Halizah Sipun, Perak Land and Mines (PTG) Director Dato' Mohamad Fariz Mohamad Hanip, Perak Water Board (LAP) General Manager Ir. Lokman Abd Rahim, State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) Sectoral Deputy Director 2 Intan Shafini Mustafa, and UPEN Natural Resources, Environment and Water Assistant Director Surendran Nair a/l Chandrum.

The arrival of the Perak SUK delegation was welcomed by Penang State Secretary Dato' Seri Rosli Isa, Penang Legal Adviser Dato' Roslinda Mohd Shafie and Penang Land and Mines Director Dr. Faizal Kamarudin.

The courtesy visit was a follow-up to the meeting between the two parties on 9 November 2023 at the Perak SUK.

This meeting focused on the proposed supply of treated water from Perak to Penang as the issue was of mutual interest.

This cooperation is expected to solve critical demands in northern ​​Perak immediately, and the excess will then be channelled to Penang.
