TCS Free Food Aid Programme Enters Fourth Year, Allocation Increased To Rm3.42 Million: 30 October 2024

IPOH, 30 October 2024 - The Perak State Government has continued the Tuisyen Cikgu Saarani (TCS) Free Food Aid Programme for the fourth year with an allocation of RM3.42 million compared to RM2.67 million last year.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said it is the state government's commitment to continue supporting the improvement of Students’ academic performance in the state.

"This programme targets 27,432 students comprising Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) candidates, and vocational colleges students throughout Perak.

"Students who attend extra classes and tuition sessions will receive lunch worth RM5 daily, to ensure they are more focused and motivated to attend extra classes, as well as better prepared for exams," he said at a press conference after the TCS Free Food Aid Contribution 2024 presentation ceremony at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here.

Also present were State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee Chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah, State Education Department (JPN) Director Safuan Raba'ai, State Agriculture Development Corporation (SADC) CEO Dato' Yahanis Yahya, Perak Development Corporation (PKNP) CEO Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak, Perak Water Board (LAP) General Manager Lokman Abdul Rahim, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc) CEO Anuar Zainal Abidin, Perak State Secretary Incorporated (SSI) Acting CEO Zulkefli Abdullah and Yayasan Perak General Manager Dr. Nasreen Khanum Nawab Khan.

Dato' Seri Saarani said the programme funds were contributed by five major government-linked companies (GLCs).

"The Perak Water Board and State Agriculture Development Corporation with RM1 million each, Menteri Besar Incorporated (RM700,000), State Secretary Incorporated (RM500,000) and Perak Development Corporation with RM220,000.

"The collected funds will be channelled via the State Financial Office to Yayasan Perak, which will coordinate the distribution of food aid to the schools involved in collaboration with JPN, and monitored by the State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee Chairman's Office.

Apart from having a positive impact on academic achievement, the programme also eases the financial burden of parents, provides the necessary nutrition for students, and strengthens cooperation between the Parent-Teacher Association and Vocational College Parent-Teacher Association in supporting students’ success in the state.
