IPOH, 25 November 2024 – Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad today attended the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) Engagement Session with the Perak State Government at Hotel Casuarina in Meru Raya here.

The engagement session, organised by the Economy Ministry in collaboration with the Perak Government, was one of the Government's efforts to publicise the preparation of the 13MP document, identify socio-economic development issues and challenges faced, as well as obtain input on the state’s development needs.

Dato' Seri Saarani said he was informed that the 13MP would focus on High Growth High Value (HGHV), Green Economy, Blue Economy, Silver Economy, Labour Market Reform, and Housing Reform.

He said the priority is very much in line with the agenda of the Perak Sejahtera Plan 2030, which emphasises the balance between economic development and social wellbeing.

"In the context of the Green Economy, Perak is actively implementing initiatives such as the expansion of forest cover, promotion of green investments, and the use of sustainable technologies.

"For the Blue Economy, the focus is on sustainable fisheries, renewable energy, marine ecosystems preservation. As a state rich in marine resources, Perak has great potential to become a leader in sustainable blue economy," he said in his welcome speech at the 13MP Engagement Session with the Perak State Government.

Also present were Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohd Zahir Abdul Khalid, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Advisor Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, Economy Ministry Secretary-General Dato' Nor Azmie Diron, State Exco Members, Economy Ministry Macroeconomics Division Director Datuk Dr. Suhana Md. Salleh, State Assemblymen and heads of state and federal departments.

Dato' Seri Saarani said this engagement session is a platform to strengthen the relationship between the Perak and Federal Governments.

"I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the Economy Ministry for the approval of 500 new projects and extensions under the 5th Rolling Plan of the 12MP with a total value of RM1.79 billion.

"This approval is a catalyst for more progressive and high-impact development, hence strengthening the development trajectory of Perak," he added.

There was also a presentation session on the 13MP framework and a dialogue session with representatives of the Perak State Government.

Earlier in the morning, Rafizi held a ‘Madani Mendengar’ session with representatives of students, youths, workers’ councils, industry players, NGOs, and others to share their views and suggestions in realising the 13MP agenda.
