IPOH, 4 December 2024 – Asia's longest extreme motorsport event, Rimba Raid Lenggong 2024 will continue for two years, from 2025 to 2026, after its success last August.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said tourism operators in Lenggong and surrounding areas, such as Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Siput welcome the organisation of major events like Rimba Raid Lenggong 2024.
"When I met and discussed with the tour operators, they requested us to hold such a programme and include it in the regular schedule so that they could make appropriate preparations.
"We will also promote this programme to become an international event, and certainly not only to provide economic opportunities for the local community but also to surrounding areas, such as Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Siput to sell their products," he said.
He said this during a press conference after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tourism Perak Management Berhad and Rimba Adventures Sdn Bhd at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.
According to Rimba Raid Founder Captain Datuk Nik Ahmad Huzlan Nik Ahmad Hussain, the first Rimba Raid in Perak had successfully attracted riders from 26 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Chile and Africa.
"When the Perak State Government proposed to us to organise the event here, we were very excited as we could see that an event like this receives very positive response from the local community and can indirectly boost the local economy.
"Therefore, Lenggong has been chosen as the event’s venue because it is an area rich in nature and eco-tourism.
"Moreover, in 2025, this event will be held in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of Rimba Raid and the 13th Anniversary of the Declaration of the Lenggong Valley as a UNESCO World Heritage Site," he elaborated.
Also present were State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee, Hulu Perak District Officer Mohamad Fitri Hassan, Tourism Perak Management Berhad CEO Nurmalis Musa, Lenggong District Council President Mohd Amzari Mohd Arzami and Petronas Lubricants Marketing (M) Sdn.
