IPOH, 31 December 2024 The Visit Perak Year 2024 (TMP 2024) concluded with extraordinary success, recording a attendance of 8.4 million day tourists.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the figure, recorded until November 2024, had surpassed the initial target of 8.3 million tourists.

He said data obtained from a Tourism Malaysia questionnaire also showed that as of September 2024, a total of 627,292 international tourists had visited Perak.

"This figure is an increase of 135% compared to the Visit Perak Year 2017 campaign.

"Ipoh and Pulau Pangkor remain the top destinations, but what catches our attention is the remarkable achievement of Larut, Matang and Selama district with 1,050,144 visitors, making it the third highest visited district in Perak,” he said during the TMP 2024 Finale at the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout in Meru here.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Financial Office Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin and wife Datin Nor Azidah Abd Rahman, State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee, state and federal department heads, and CEOs of Perak government-linked companies (GLCs).

Dato' Seri Saarani added that products such as the Telegraph Museum, Antong Coffee and Trong Leisure Farm were the main attractions, recording a 30% increase in visitors compared to the previous year.

He said this increase proved that the tourism sector benefits not only urban areas, but also provides economic spillovers to rural and suburban areas, which are rich in their own uniqueness and heritage.

"This success would not have been achieved without the collaboration of various parties, including government agencies, industry players and most importantly, the people of Perak.

"However, the success of TMP 2024 is not the end, instead, efforts to promote Perak will continue to be intensified in preparation for Visit Malaysia Year (TMM) 2026," he said.

Meanwhile, through Budget 2025, the state government has allocated RM11.31 million for various tourism and cultural development projects throughout the state.

To welcome Visit Perak Year 2026, the Perak State Government has also formulated long-term tourism infrastructure projects in several strategic districts.

It involves the development of integrated tourism centres in rural areas with great potential, upgrading access routes to popular destinations, and introducing more ecotourism and cultural tourism activities.
