Engagement Session With Ministry Of Finance On Proposed Drafting Of Government Procurement Bill.

IPOH, 27 January 2025 - Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dato' Nor Sham Rahman, representing State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, attended the Engagement Session on the Proposed Drafting of the Government Procurement Bill with the Procurement Division, Ministry of Finance Malaysia at Dewan Bankuet, Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.
The engagement session began with a speech by Dato' Indera Ab Rahim Ab Rahman, Divisional Secretary, Government Procurement Division, Ministry of Finance Malaysia.
He said this engagement session is important for them to listen to the views of the Perak State Government and he welcomes any feedback or queries.
"The Prime Minister often emphasises on governance, especially to expedite the implementation of projects.
"Hence, it is important for us to hold this engagement session with the Perak Government to listen to views or feedback in our process of making government policies to ensure that the work processes we provide can be adopted and facilitated for all relevant parties.
"Not only that, in government money management, procurement management is the basic thing that we need to know. When we enter the service, procurement is the first thing we do. So, this basic thing needs to be strengthened," he said.
Next, a presentation session was delivered by Mohd Hazizi Harun, Principal Assistant Secretary, Government Procurement Division.
This was followed by a question and answer session with three panelists, namely Dato' Indera Ab Rahim Ab Rahman; Kamal Azira Hassan, Treasury Solicitor, Legal Division, Ministry of Finance; and Ahmad Fauzi Sungip, Head of Government Procurement Policy Section, Ministry of Finance.
Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, and State Treasurer Megat Amirul Zaini Jamalulallail Megat Jamaludin.
