"The spirit of ithar – prioritising the needs of others over oneself – must be nurtured and practised in every aspect of life, from the act of zakat, charity, to courteous behaviour on the road and the attitude of helping one another within the community," he said.

He also explained that the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS should be deeply emulated, as 'Ismail' in today's life can manifest in various forms – wealth, power, status, and worldly desires – that must be sacrificed in order to devote oneself to Allah.

The sermon also touched on the importance of using Aidiladha as an opportunity to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and the spirit of ummah unity.
