GERIK, 17 August 2025. HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Army Engineers Regiment (RAJD), visited the Sultan Azlan Shah Power Station in Bersia to witness a preparedness demonstration by the 70th Power Plant Specialist Regiment of RAJD.

The Sultan’s visit is a manifestation of concern for the efforts and role undertaken by the 70th Regiment in ensuring the nation's electricity readiness, especially faced with crises and natural disasters.

During the demonstration, members of the 70th Regiment carried out a simulation of taking over power station operations due to disruptions in river flow following a landslide.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Gen. (Rtd) Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin, State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Senate Member Gen. (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd. Azumi Mohamed, Reserve Force Assistant Commandeer Major Gen. Dato' Mohammad Razeif Che Ahmad, 4th Division Commander Major Gen. Dato’ Khairul Azmizal Ahmad Natal, 2nd Brigade Commander Brigadier General Mohd Rosli Abu Bakar, Honorary Colonel (K) 70th RAJD Specialist (AW) Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, 70th RAJD Power Plant Specialist Regiment (AW) Commanding Officer Lt Col Dato' Muhamad Nazri Pazil and Perak State Development Corporation CEO Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak.

Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan informed that the establishment of the 70th Regiment was to develop capability building in supporting the continuity of the country’s electricity, especially during times of crises.

He added that although Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) bears the main responsibility for the country's electricity supply, the support from the 70th Regiment remains vital, particularly during emergencies.

At the same time, he emphasised the importance of strategic collaboration between TNB engineers, electricity supply companies and the 70th Regiment to ensure the nation's electricity supply is always at the optimal level.
